Admission Requirements

For standard admission into Dual Enrollment, students who are currently enrolled in high school will:

  1. 在参加本课程前已完成第一学期的学业。
  2. Have an articulated plan for high school and college attendance which will include all courses required for high school graduation with time remaining in the schedule to include college courses.

  4. Have met the prerequisite requirement(s) andassessment level(s)for each credit-bearing course they enroll in. Dual Enrollment students may not enroll in developmental courses or courses that combine developmental and college level work. All College students must test at a minimum reading to be eligible to take any college courses.
  5. Have the approval of a parent (or guardian), high school counselor, and if necessary, the principal. Principal approval is required for all Maryland public school students seeking college courses through the College and Career Readiness and College Completion Act of 2013.
  6. HOME SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY: Submit verification from their county's home school program office indicating that they are registered with the local school system.

Exceptions(under special circumstances):

  1. DE students who are enrolled in a public or private school, or equivalent, and who do not meet the requirements above, but whose achievement in a certain field of study is clearly exceptional may be admitted on a case-by-case basis. This achievement may be documented through testing or other means deemed necessary by the appropriate dean, department chair or faculty, and it must surpass the level of courses offered by the school attended.
  2. Non high school level students (along with their parents/guardians) must be interviewed by the appropriate College official to obtain an exception to the standard requirements and review program and College expectations. The student will be referred by the DE office to be interviewed by the appropriate College official after all required enrollment steps are met.

Program Regulations

  1. Dual Enrollment (DE) students are subject to all Policies and Procedures as well as Academic Regulations and Standards of Montgomery College.

  3. Dual Enrollment students generally enroll in one (1) to four (4) courses each term, during fall, winter and spring semesters and up to two (2) courses during each summer session. The College makes the final decision on enrollment.
  4. Students seeking to take more courses per term may be approved on a case-by-case basis.

  6. All Dual Enrollment students seeking any accommodations for assessment testing or a college course must be registered through MC’s Disability Support Services regardless of their status at the high school level. Accommodations at the College level may vary somewhat from those provided through the K-12 schools. Documentation should be submitted at least six (6) weeks prior to testing and/or the start of the semester in order to ensure timely services.
  7. Earned college credit may be used to fulfill the credit requirement for the HS diploma, as outlined by the Maryland Department of Education (COMAR 13A.03.02).
  8. Continued eligibility to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program is contingent upon successful completion with a minimum grade of "C" or better in previous college course(s). Students who withdraw with a “W” on their transcript may also be ineligible for future participation. Students must continue to meet the Dual Enrollment standards and follow the same procedures for enrollment. Student must also satisfy all financial obligations to MC prior to enrollment.
  9. Student MUST follow the prevailing enrollment process to be registered through dual enrollment. All appropriate approvals and supporting documents must be received and verified prior to a student obtaining permission to enroll. High school students cannot register themselves and must be registered through the dual enrollment office.
