MC Foundation Scholarships

The Montgomery College Foundation offers more than 300 scholarship opportunities, generously provided by businesses, organizations, and individuals. Applicants should have at least a 2.5 GPA or higher, enroll for six credits and be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen. There are two deadlines: June 30 for the fall semester and December 31 for spring semester.

Admitted students can apply for all MC Foundation scholarships by completingone online application through AcademicWorksnew window. This online tool automatically matches you up with relevant scholarships.

The Teaching Fellows for Maryland Scholarship

The Teaching Fellows for Maryland Scholarshipis designed for students who pledge upon completion of their studies to work as public school or public prekindergarten teachers in the State of Maryland at schools that have at least 50% of the students in the school eligible for free or reduced price meals (FRPM). Selected students may receive 100% of tuition and fees for their studies at Maryland public higher education programs (including Montgomery College) and at least 50% of tuition and fees at private non-profit programs.

The deadline to submit the 2022-2023 Teaching Fellows for Maryland Scholarship Program application and all required documentation isApril 1, 2022. Applications will not be considered if received after the deadline.

The Maryland Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant

TheMaryland Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grantnew window(WSSAG) program is for students who plan on working in specific career/occupational programs upon graduation, including these two areas in education:

Recipients must become certified teachers in Maryland in the certification area in which they applied and were awarded and then be employed in a Maryland public or private elementary or secondary school as a full-time classroom teacher in that area.

Robert F. Noyce Scholarship Program for STEM Teachers

For transfer: Students desiring to become secondary teachers of biology, chemistry or mathematics should explore the benefits of becoming a Hood NSTEP scholar at nearby Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.何od NSTEPnew windowwill provide scholarships and specialized programming to students in the final two years of their undergraduate degree work to complete their undergraduate STEM major and teacher certification requirements.

Other Scholarships for Teacher Education

  • The Sherman Scholars Programat The University of Maryland/Baltimore County seeks to increase the number of outstanding STEM students in the teacher-education pipeline. The program awards multi-year scholarships of up to $10,000 annually for undergraduates on a competitive basis.
  • Kahlert Foundation Scholarshipsnew window(up to $4,000 over a two-year period) are awarded to transfer students from Maryland community colleges who enroll at Towson University and plan to pursue a career in secondary school mathematics or science teaching.
