Montgomery College is pleased to host for the 17th consecutive year the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl, Maryland/District of Columbia High School Science Bowl Competition on January 14, 2023. We plan to conduct the competition at the Montgomery College Rockville Campus for the first time since 2019.
Interest in Maryland's Science Bowl has grown tremendously. This year promises to be our best competition and we anticipate 48 teams representing counties from across Maryland and the District of Colombia to participate at Rockville on January 14, 2023.
The Montgomery Blair Science Bowl Team won the virtual Maryland/DC Regional Championship in 2022. The Montgomery Blair team placed in the top four teams at the National Science Bowl. See the Montgomery Blair National Science Bowl Photo Album: Montgomery Blair High School, Silver Spring, Maryland | Flickr
We hope to attract several high school teams that will compete for the first time for the chance to represent Maryland at the 33rd Annual National Science Bowl Competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy in April and May, 2023.
Without the help of volunteers, science bowl competitions could not thrive. Accordingly, we need your help to make Maryland's event a success and to encourage students to pursue science and math.
Volunteer training sessions take place in January. Expect detailed information via e-mail in the upcoming weeks about training/review session dates, times, and location.
We truly appreciate your willingness to volunteer! Let us know of your intent by Monday, December 19. Also, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or ideas that could enhance the success of the competition.
Volunteers may register by submitting the requested information through the Volunteer Registration Form.
Please share with your colleagues as we always need many volunteers!
PLEASE NOTE: Due to revisions in the Montgomery College Protection of Minors Policy, ALL volunteers MUST BE AT LEAST 16 years of age.
